TwitterHere I'm gonna show you how to make an input to your car radio (head unit) for connecting iPod, MP3 player, DVD, laptop, CD player AKA discman etc. First you need to find the tuner. In my example, it's standing vertically to the main board, located in a shielded case. It's connected with main board through soldered pins. I found pins that are audio output from tuner (in my unit there's a description of each pin). I cut lines that are connecting this output with preamplifier input, with scalpel. Then I mounted a double KIP switch and a 3.5mm female connector for input. I connect input, tuner and preamp input on the switch, so I can switch between tuner and audio input for listening. I know you can use FM transmitter or audio tape with 3.5mm male connector, but most of them produce low quality sound. This is a direct input into your unit with crystal clean sound and the best quality your unit or source can deliver. You just need to put the switch to input, choose the tuner source on your head unit and connect your source. You will hear the sound from your iPod, MP3 player or whatever you connect. The only "bad thing" is that on LCD you can see RDS or frequency of the radio station in background. But this won't bother you. And, don't seek your radio stations because, while it's searching, the sound will be muted. You need to have basic soldering skills and now what you're doing.
